Grown Up Emily

I am a Lutheran school teacher who is (quickly) learning what it is like to be an adult. My husband (also a Lutheran school teacher), Caleb, and I have recently purchased a new home and are taking each day as the Lord gives it to us. This is a sporadic tale of our journey of faith, love, and pullin up our britches when times get tough! We love to see what God has in store for us.

Showered with Love

So the last few weekends were SUPER busy...and now it is May also! AH.  Time is fleeting when you don't pay attention!

So the title of this post refers to my beautiful friend, Erin's bridal shower 2 weekends ago.  I drove down with Jeanette on Friday evening and spent all day Saturday preparing for Erin and Dave's shower.  It was so lovely and the food that Erin's sister planned was SUPER scrumptious.  They got some exciting gifts also.
I remember my showers that I had and I still, to this day, am so blessed to see the generosity coming from those that came.  I know Erin felt the same way. :)  It is a humbling experience.

Sunday, the 29th, was a spur of the moment trip to AA. Our favorite city.  Dr. Altevogt invited us to sing with the St. Paul choirs for their Easter concert again.  It was awesome.  We sang Bach (of course), "Gott der Herr ist Sonn und Schild"and a Handel coronation anthem, "Let They Hand Be Strengthened."  SO fun to sing....and even more fun to learn in two days!  We got the music that Friday, the 27th, because of how last minute we found out about it. :)  Nothing like learning Bach and Handel in two days!  www.cyberbass.com is the best website ever!

This past weekend would have been ruined by a little friend that popped up: I had a pilonidal cyst.

I guess that I STILL have it but I am working hard now to make sure it never flares up again.  I had been having pain in my tailbone area for about a week but then it became red and very sensitive to any pressure, which made sitting and lying down a nightmare.  So, on Cinco de Mayo I checked into the Med Express in Hemlock and had them drain it and put me on antibiotic.  Good thing too because I had Cinco de May lunch with a friend AND we drove down to the Tigers game (because we had free tix!).

Lastly, we had dinner with the Bolts at Panera. <3 to Panera!!

This pas Sunday, I went to see "The Hunger Games" again in theatres with Kaeleen, our school's long term sub for Kindergarten.  SUCH a sweet girl and she is getting married this summer!  I cried again with all the Rue scenes. I am a sap.

Caleb is independent studying his next masters course and he is planning on working ahead so he can finish before our annual big camping trip.  We both have 21? 22? days of school left before summer break is here.

YAY.
